AUDITION DETAILS

  • Sign up for ONE 30-minute audition on Friday, May 9, or Saturday, May 10.
  • Prepare a 30-second cut of a musical theater or pop-rock song to be sung with piano accompaniment or track.
  • Please bring sheet music for accompaniment (an accompanist will be provided) or a track that can be played from your phone and connected to a wireless Bluetooth speaker.
    • Tip: Generally, 30 seconds of a song is about 16-32 bars, depending on the tempo. Don’t be afraid to time yourself singing it to make sure. When in doubt while selecting, use the 1-and-1 Rule: one verse & the chorus.
  • Look over the provided sides. Scripts will be available for checkout on April 10. You do not have to memorize and are welcome to hold the sides during your audition, however, we recommend familiarizing yourself with your chosen material enough to showcase your talent & abilities.
  • Some people may be asked to dance and/or read/sing again on Sunday, May 11 & Monday, May 12, for what is called a Callback audition. You will be notified if you need to attend these additional auditions. Please keep May 11-12 open in case you are called back.
  • Before your audition, please complete an Audition Form and bring it with you or arrive early to complete a form available at the welcome table.
  • Auditions will be held at QCT. Please enter through the QCT STAGE DOOR located off Kentucky Street. This is the south side of the Oakley-Lindsay Center, and a ramp leads to the door labeled “STAGE DOOR.”

IF YOU INTEND TO AUDITION, PLEASE TAKE NOTE:

REHEARSALS • Rehearsals will be held Monday- Friday anytime from 6:00 -10:00 pm. There may be a few Saturday afternoon rehearsals in June, but they are TBD.  Actors may not be called for every rehearsal or the full length of a rehearsal until the final weeks. The first cast meeting will be on Tuesday, May 20, at 6:00 pm.

CONFLICTS • When listing conflicts on your audition form, please give exact days and times; we may be able to schedule around your pre-existing conflicts.

ABSENCES • Cast members are allowed two (2) excused absences from rehearsal. NO UNEXCUSED ABSENCES WILL BE ALLOWED.  Please note that no cast member may miss his/her scheduled rehearsal for any reason after Monday, June 30.

TECHNICAL REHEARSALS • Before auditioning, please take note that tech is scheduled for Saturday, July 5 – Tuesday, July 8. The specific schedule will be announced the week leading into these days.

COSTUMES • You may be asked to provide supplementary costume pieces (such as undergarments and socks) and/or shoes.

BY AUDITIONING, YOU AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING:

Being a part of a QCT production is a HUGE commitment, but the reward is worth it! We will work together to create a joyful and high-quality production, and the final product will be the result of everyone’s talents and strengths. You will be expected to work as needed outside of rehearsals on your lines, music and choreography; you will attend and arrive on time for all your scheduled rehearsals, and be ready to begin by the scheduled start time; you will leave anything negative at the Stage Door and bring in your best, most supportive, most inclusive and positive self to our process. We will all be willing to step outside of our comfort zones in rehearsals and try different things and treat every person involved in the production with care and respect – no matter the age or role.

Please, only audition if you are ready to commit to the above – let’s work hard and have some fun!
